Where the Mountains Keep Watch

In Dali, the mountains and Erhai Lake have never been merely scenery. Across the Bai villages surrounding the water, local guardian spirits—known as Benzhu—are believed to watch over each place, while moonlight on the lake and snow upon the peaks have shaped stories for generations. At Hushan Yunyin, H + H’s wedding unfolded within that storied landscape: flowers gathered at the water’s edge, sunlight moving slowly across the lake, and a celebration suspended somewhere between the earthly and the imagined.
