L and Z had spent years building a life together in Switzerland before returning to Dali for their destination wedding. They chose Qingshan Village No. 49—an exceptionally private residence overlooking Erhai Lake, created over five years by Chinese designer Xie Ke and his friends.

The house was deliberately given no grand hotel name. It kept only its village and street number, designed to feel less like a landmark placed upon the landscape and more like the village’s forty-ninth home. Local stone, aged timber, white walls and quiet pathways connect the architecture to the Bai village surrounding it.

For two days, L and Z made the entire property their own, bringing their families and friends beneath one roof. What began as a destination wedding slowly became something closer to a homecoming—a life shaped in Switzerland returning, briefly and beautifully, to the mountains and water of Dali.
